About Us…
Who are we? What do we do? What does it all mean?!
Nate Baldwin
I’m a web developer currently specializing in PHP, MySQL, CSS and JavaScript. Aside from scripting, I also enjoy web design, graphic design and illustration. Having started my career as a graphic designer (and eventually an art director), I feel that I have a unique perspective on the integration of web design and scripting.
I’ve rather recently been working a good bit with Joomla! and WordPress for PHP-based content management, designing custom themes and building custom plug-ins and extensions. For JavaScript and AJAX, I’ve been primarily focused on jQuery and Spry.
I am currently self-employed via MindPalette LLC, working with a handful of steady clients including other web designers, small businesses and large corporations. I also like to occasionally delve into development projects like NateMail, ProcessForm and a popular library of GoLive Actions (JavaScript GUI plug-ins). Recent-ish projects include the following:
- PhilLear.com (design and programming – custom WordPress template)
- MindPalette.com (continued design and development)
This is my person website, and as is the nature of such things, the last one I seem to be able to get around to updating. - Bentcil.com (design and programming)
- Thompsonplans.com (programming and some design)
This site was made for Architect Rick Thompson – check it out for some great narrow lot and passive solar house plans. - AnimalsINK.com (programming and some design, eCommerce)
- 123MedicalMarketing.com (programming and design)
This site was built entire in WordPress, including a custom template and PHP plug-ins. - BlueViewVacations.com (programming and design)
Also built in WordPress, this is a small site built to showcase a couple fine beach properties available for rent. - MisterFlakes.com (programming)
…and a much larger (and generally more recent) selection of projects I’ve shared with other web design companies. For that sort of thing, I’d rather not advertise my involvement with links and references unless cleared in advance.
For the last several years I’ve served as a GoLive forum host for Adobe’s user-to-user forums, and more recently, an “Adobe Community Expert“.
I’m generally available to quote on new projects or consider new partnerships with other web developers (for instance, you do the design, I do the database and back-end scripting – or, the reverse).
The vast majority of my work is hand-coded, but I stay very up-to-date with Dreamweaver and GoLive so I’m able to effectively work on projects with most professional web development teams. I also work quite a bit with BBEdit, CSSEdit and Coda. Pretty much all my development work is done on a Mac OSX (10.4) machine, and I’m most familiar with Unix/Linux web servers running Apache.
You’re welcome to email me through this site’s contact form – unless you’re a spammer, evil-natured space alien or overly-zealous root vegetable evangelist.
MindPalette.com
MindPalette.com was created as an extension to my work on the Adobe forums (to post tutorials or downloads and to supply a contact form). It has since evolved into a web development company offering custom scripting and development, and downloadable pre-made scripts for other web developers.
We are in a phase of transition right now, moving away from GoLive and focusing on scripts and solutions that aren’t application dependent. Among our most popular projects are our form processing scripts (NateMail and ProcessForm). Though they’ve both been on development hold for a few months, I hope to revive the project soon and release upgrades and new licensing options for both.
Thanks for visiting!
